Linus Woods
A Dakota/Ojibway artist from Long Plain First Nation in Southern Manitoba, Linus Woods uses mixed media and acrylics to reflect the oral traditions, dreams, stories and legends of his ancestors. He blends a contemporary and layered graphic style with bold and vibrant colour, often depicting animals and scenes of the natural world.
Linus’ work was included in Close Encounters: The Next 500 Years exhibition of contemporary Indigenous art organized by the Winnipeg Art Gallery. In addition to private collections in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, his work can be found at Brandon University, University of Winnipeg, Government of Canada, The Government of Manitoba, Arrowhead Corporation, and the Peace Hills Trust.
