Amanda Onchulenko

Amanda Onchulenko

Amanda Onchulenko's work celebrates the beauty and energy of the prairie landscape. Through colour and composition she interprets the prairie as diverse, nuanced and abundant.

"I strive to capture the essence of a moment -- to describe, with this body of work, the energetic experience of landscape. I am drawn to the cheeky personalities of perennial inhabitants, alluding to the fertile abundance of this place, at the heart of a nation, where the horizon levels my gaze."

Anja Studer

Anja Studer

Anja’s papercuts are inspired by the traditional Swiss artform. This delicate medium utilizes the concept of patterns unravelling into lines to echo the message of wildlife extinction.
Her work in mixed media features beautiful abstract watercolour washes enriched with details in ink, acrylic, 18k gold and graphite. Loosely evoking the Canadian landscape, these pieces reinforce the fragility of our ecosystem and very real threats of extinction through habitat loss.
Born and raised in Switzerland, Anja studied fine arts at the Ecole de design and haute ecole d’art du Valais in Switzerland. She continued her studies at both the University of Manitoba and Red River College. She resides in Winnipeg, MB and continues to create, exhibit and sell her art in Europe and North America.

Ann Rallison

Ann Rallison

Local printmaker Ann Rallison uses experimental print techniques to create whimsical and richly textured etchings and collagraph prints. Her unique methods, including different metals for etching, hand-cut stencils for screen printing and dry point on plexiglass, deliver an innovative take and unique perspective on the Manitoba landscape.

Born and educated in England, Ann obtained her first degree from the University of Liverpool and subsequent degrees from the University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba. Ann has been an active member of the Manitoba Printmakers Association Inc. for many years as an instructor, studio renter and member of the board. She has tried many forms of printmaking and continues to enjoy learning, as well as teaching.

Anthony Steffes

Anthony Steffes

Anthony thrives on experimentation, bringing his incredible experience, talent and imagination to the creation of his acrylic works. With his joyful expressions drawing inspiration from the performing arts, nature and his own garden, Anthony continually challenges himself to avoid that which he can easily control.

“Art for me is connecting all the possibilities of art mediums with the amazing world of abstract imagination and design on surfaces that provide a place for colour and texture to play.”

Anthony studied art at the University of Manitoba, University of Toronto and Ontario College of Art. As a much-loved art teacher and champion of arts programming, he mentored a generation of high school students. He is happiest when engaged in the process of helping a fellow artist achieve something they previously thought impossible.

Cindy Dyson

Cindy Dyson

Cindy Dyson's richly textured acrylic works chronicle the beauty and fleeting moments of the everyday urban experience. Through the use of brushes, palette knives, found objects and her own fingers, Cindy's acrylic works evoke mood, movement and a restless energy. The tactile nature of her bold swathes of paint beckon the viewer to touch.

Eric Ouimet

Eric Ouimet

Eric provides a modernist twist to what’s familiar and relatable in Manitoba’s urban and rural landscapes — infusing both large-scale acrylic panels and hand-pulled, original screen prints with his signature clean lines, bold colour and exceptional eye for good design.

Eric was raised on a farm near the small community of Ste. Agathe in southern Manitoba. The prairie landscape and wide-open skies, as well as Winnipeg’s historic urban architecture, continue to inspire his work. Eric graduated from l’Universite de Saint-Boniface in Communications and Multimedia and has since worked in television as an award-winning motion graphics designer.

James Dean

James Dean

A resident of The Pas, Manitoba, James has been painting for the past 25 years. His landscapes capture the many moods of the province's boreal forest, while his quiet, yet powerful, cityscapes interpret the urban human experience.
James is a member of the Manitoba Society of Artists and his work can be found in public and private collections throughout the country.
"When a brush expresses how light moves through a particular scene or when a painting draws a viewer in to ponder what is going on, you know the visual has been translated. That is what I hope to achieve."

Leslie Franklin

Leslie Franklin

Leslie Franklin’s vivid use of colour and loose, flowing style produces expressive, unconventional results. Working primarily in the medium of alcohol ink, her unique style combines elements of realism with free-flowing, non-traditional and vibrant colour, rendering unique interpretations of seemingly conventional subjects.

A recurring focus in Leslie's work is the exploration of animal interactions with their environment. This love for animals and nature was evident early on and led her to pursue a Bachelor of Science. It is perhaps this scientific knowledge, combined with her mastery of working in this challenging medium, that place her alcohol ink paintings in a league of their own.

Sharon Cory

Sharon is a colourist who has found a happy balance between realism and abstraction. Whether creating large-scale figurative works, vibrant urban scenes or bold landscapes, Sharon strives to capture a feeling – a mood of familiarity and recognition conveyed through gesture, colour and setting.  Her figurative works often contain underlying social commentary and insight into human relationships.

Sharon’s work can be found in public and private collections across Canada.  She currently lives in Gimli, Manitoba.

Weldon Neufeld

Weldon Neufeld

Weldon Neufeld combines the love of design with a desire to re-purpose materials that would have otherwise been burned or discarded, turning them into works that are functional, beautiful and made to be cherished.
Turned on a wood lathe, each piece is carefully shaped to expose unique markings and anomalies. Weldon sees these unique characteristics as symbols of the human condition, reminding us that we all bear the scars of life. Not defects, but things that make each of us who we are.
Weldon also uses yakisugi (Japanese wood charring) and acrylic glazing techniques to further enhance the wood grain and overall dynamic of each piece.
