LINUS WOODS / THE LAND WE KNOW
May 1 – June 30, 2026
The renowned Dakota/Ojibway artist from Long Plain First Nation uses mixed media and acrylics to reflect the oral traditions, dreams, stories and legends of his ancestors. He blends a contemporary and layered graphic style with bold and vibrant colour, often depicting animals and scenes of the natural world. While Linus’s work evokes memories of the past, his work also reflects current political and cultural Indigenous issues.
While primarily self-taught, Linus also studied art at Brandon University. Over the pasty twenty-five years his work has been featured in exhibitions in Fredericton, NB, Hull, Quebec and Los Angeles, California. Here at home, he has been part of group shows at the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Wah-sa Gallery, Urban Shaman Gallery and Brandon University. In addition to private collections in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, Linus’s work can be found in the collections of Brandon University, University of Winnipeg, Government of Manitoba, Government of Canada, Arrowhead Corporation, and the Peace Hills Trust.
Join us throughout May and June to view this outstanding selection of new work.
